Location
Shepp Ranch is located in central Idaho, 45 miles east of Riggins, where Crooked Creek flows into the Main Salmon, Idaho’s “River of No Return.” The Salmon River is designated a Wild and Scenic River. The canyon is a fifth of a mile deeper than the Grand Canyon and only Hells Canyon on the Snake River is deeper. Boise, Idaho, which is 150 miles south of Riggins, is the nearest major city and is served by major airlines, train, and bus.
Getting Here
Most guests choose to drive to the boat ramp at “Road’s End” at Vinegar Creek. From there, we pick you up for the 30 minute jetboat ride up the Salmon River to the Ranch. Plan on staying in McCall or Riggins the night before your trip to Shepp. Our standard jetboat pickup time is 11:00 a.m. MST.
To get to the boat ramp from Riggins, travel 26 miles east on the Salmon River Road. The road is paved to Spring Bar Campground at milepost 10, but continues as a dirt road and ends at Vinegar Creek. Please allow 60-90 minutes to make the trip from Riggins.
